Premier League Team of the Week: Arsenal players headline after win against Everton

The two biggest results of the weekend came when Aston Villa defeated unbeaten league leaders Manchester City 2-1, and Tottenham beat rivals Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth also secured a somewhat surprising 3-0 win away to Manchester United, while Arsenal gained ground in the title race with a typically resolute 2-0 triumph over Everton.

Flashscore has selected its Premier League Team of the Week, based on our player ratings system.

Goalkeeper

Zion Suzuki (Aston Villa) – 8.7

Suzuki played a vital role in Aston Villa’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City, making six saves to earn an 8.7 Flashscore rating – the highest of any goalkeeper across the Premier League’s latest fixtures.

The Japanese shot-stopper also kept out three big chances and maintained his impressive distribution with three accurate passes into the final third and five accurate long passes.

Defenders

Ben White (Arsenal) – 8.0

Arsenal defender White played his 200th game for the club in their 2-0 win against Everton and put in an exceptional performance at right-back.

The 29-year-old made three key passes and one assist while also staying dominant at the back, winning all five of his duels, making three clearances and four recoveries.

James Hill (Bournemouth) – 9.3

This week’s Premier League Player of the Week is Bournemouth defender Hill, who earned a 9.3 Flashscore rating for his starring role in the Cherries’ 3-0 win away at Manchester United.

Hill excelled at the back with two goal-line clearances, nine duels won, six tackles, seven clearances, four blocks, four interceptions and three recoveries.

Goals from attacking talent will be the main talking point, but a memorable afternoon for Bournemouth was made far easier by the standout showing from Hill.

Gabriel (Arsenal) – 9.2

Gabriel put in a Player of the Match showing at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, getting on the scoresheet and ensuring the Gunners didn’t concede with a resolute defensive performance.

The Brazilian made two last-man tackles to help keep another clean sheet and remained solid whenever Everton pressure arrived – making eight clearances, two interceptions, three recoveries and one block.

Midfielders

Mamadou Sangare (Brentford) – 8.3

Brentford drew 1-1 with Hull on Sunday afternoon, and midfielder Sangare continued his strong start to life in the Premier League with a dominant showing.

An impressive 10 duels won set the tone, on top of 11 recoveries, three clearances, two tackles and two interceptions.

His display on the ball was equally impressive, with Sangare having the most touches (99), accurate passes (69) and accurate passes into the final third (11).

Elliot Anderson (Manchester City) – 8.2

Despite featuring for the losing team, Anderson put in an exceptional performance for Manchester City in their trip to Aston Villa.

He demonstrated his influence in defence, winning eight duels, making seven recoveries, two interceptions and one tackle – but he also impressed going forward.

Anderson completed three dribbles, made nine passes into the final third, three passes into the box and three key passes.

The Paraguayan got on the scoresheet with a cool finish into the bottom corner – while he also completed a match-high six dribbles, took four shots and made 15 progressive carries.

Forwards

He evaded a couple of tackles in the penalty area before curling a superb finish into the far corner to cap off a brilliant individual display, also completing two dribbles and four key passes.

Nicolas Jackson (Aston Villa) – 8.3

Jackson bagged two goals as Aston Villa defeated league leaders Manchester City – first smashing into the roof of the net after gliding inside from the wing, before doubling his tally after firing a powerful effort through Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The striker also contributed with a big defensive effort, winning eight duels as well as making five recoveries and one tackle.

Mathys Tel (Tottenham) – 8.3
