ATP Madrid 2025 Kicks Off – Eight Italians in the Men’s Draw

The Madrid Open 2025 begins today, marking the second ATP Masters 1000 event on clay this season, and Italy will be well represented with eight players in the men’s main draw.

🇮🇹 Italy Sends a Full Squad

Among the standout names:

  • Flavio Cobolli (ATP No. 36) faces Fabian Marozsan in the first round. The winner will take on Holger Rune, fresh off his title win in Barcelona and now back in the Top 10.
  • Matteo Berrettini received a first-round bye and will start his campaign against the winner of Learner Tien vs Marcos Giron. A potential third-round clash with Jack Draper awaits.
  • Luciano Darderi, another name to watch, could set up a high-profile round-of-16 showdown with Novak Djokovic, should both progress.

🎾 Wild Card Debut for Cinà

Federico Cinà, playing in Madrid for the first time, enters the draw thanks to a wild card. He’ll face Coleman Wong of Hong Kong in the opening round.

The tournament, held simultaneously with the WTA 1000, runs until May 4 and promises top-tier clay-court tennis in the Spanish capital.
